On this page, you will find everything you need to know in the event of the death covered by your GenialLife life policy and if it becomes necessary to report a claim to the insurance.
It is not a topic that is discussed willingly, but it is essential to know how life insurance payout works in case of death and the communication methods to GenialLife.
The GenialLife Claims Service must be informed of the event by email (support@geniallife.is) indicating the necessary data for registering the claim. Our assistants will provide all the useful information on the documents to be produced, procedures to follow, and the expected times for the payout.
For claims related to traditional temporary death coverage, beneficiaries must send the documents by mail or email to the company, which in turn will undertake to pay out the life policy within 30 days of receiving the complete documentation.
Reporting Claims Related to Additional Coverages
For claims relating to supplementary coverages such as Accidental Death, Pink&Blue the insured can directly send an email to the company to report the event. Subsequently, the user will receive precise instructions from the GenialLife Customer Service on how to send the appropriate medical certificates.
To proceed with the payout, it is necessary that the documentation received by the company is complete.
Documentation in Case of a Claim
As stated in the terms and conditions, the necessary documents in case of a claim are:
- Original or certified copy of identity card, passport, or driver's license of the policyholder and all beneficiaries, or original of an Italian registry certificate;
- Original signed request for payout by each Beneficiary, or by those who legally represent them, containing the details for the payment. The appropriate form provided by the Company can be used to facilitate providing all the necessary information;
- Copy of the death certificate of the insured in original, issued by the Civil Registry Office on plain paper;
- Medical certificate certifying the cause of death;
- Attending physician's report of the Insured on a form sent by the Company;
- In case of hospitalization, copy of all medical records, complete with anamnesis and authenticated by the Health Directorate;
- In case of violent death, copy of the complete legal documents (Judicial Authority/Police), including any autopsy report, Public Prosecutor's request for archiving, and Judge's archiving order for Preliminary Investigations;
- In case of testamentary successions, copy of the will published.
- Copy of the Substitutive Declaration of Notoriety with authenticated signature at the Municipality, before a Notary, or at the Court specifying whether the Policyholder has left a will or not.
In case of existence of a will, a copy of the related publication report must be delivered, and the above-mentioned Substitutive Declaration must include its identifying details, also specifying that this will is the last to be considered valid and has not been contested. If the designation of beneficiaries in the policy is generic (e.g., "the legitimate heirs in equal parts" or "the testamentary heirs in equal parts") and the possible will has not modified the beneficiaries of the policy, the above-mentioned Substitutive Declaration must specify who the Beneficiaries are, providing their personal data, degree of kinship, and legal capacity. If the possible will has modified the beneficiaries of the policy, the above-mentioned Substitutive Declaration must specify exactly who the new beneficiaries of the policy are, providing their personal data, degree of kinship, and legal capacity. Limited to cases where there is a need to carry out investigations regarding the legitimacy of the entitled party and/or the correct disbursement of the due amount, the Company may request, instead of the substitutive declaration, a copy of the act of notoriety drawn up before a Notary or at the Court;
- In case of incapacitated heirs (minors, interdicted, etc.), copy of the Guardian Judge's authorization to collect with exemption of the Company from any liability on the payment.
We remind you that communications regarding the reporting of a claim should be sent to the email address support@geniallife.is.
